As a child, I ran free in the streets, played with wild animals and stuck random objects up my nose. My parents weren't abusive or neglectful (except maybe that time I got hit by a car), but there was just a different level of parental oversight back then. I look back fondly on those innocent good ol' days by celebrating previous generations' unintentional, they-don't-know-no-better child abuse, neglect and endangerment -- from dangerous toys to dangerous habits to dangerous people (Uncle Ned, I haven't forgotten). Because every childhood needs a little trauma.
